A natural-draft cooling tower (Iterson type) is a device that uses the natural flow of air to cool water. The cooling effect depends primarily on the height and proportions of the cooling tower. Cooling towers of this type are shaped like a rotational hyperboloid and range in height from 100 meters to 155 meters. Inside the cooling tower is the technology necessary for distributing the heated water. The cooling effect increases with the dispersion of the incoming water flow. Various troughs, pipe systems, spray nozzles, and cooling fill are used to achieve this dispersion.
